Ok, I did something wrong, I thought this was week 6, but I guess it is week 5. So the Instagram was week 4. Sorry if I have you confused Kathleen !
I use GoodReads all the time. I have an account and have the app on my phone and I-pad. I follow certain authors and read reviews and comments from other readers. I have also told patrons about this app, great tool for finding new authors. I want to get our book club to use it, but I have not started on that. I plan on working on it after the 1st of the year.
I do read the metrics page ( is that how you say it?) on our facebook page. Since we started using facebook, it has always showed an interest in our page and it has been a great use of social media for our library.
Patrons are always telling us about things they have read on our page. I have to say they use it more that our web-page and the web-page is the one that cost us $200 a year to host!

Week 5 Re-Do!!
I read Pam's blog and I went to Uni. links and found lots of them using instagram to promote their school and also all the neat things going on. Some had pics of actors that had visited the school. I can't remember the guys name, but he was in the movie "Grown-Ups" and always used the word maize!
I'm going to keep looking!

Week 5
I don't think I am doing this right. I only found one library using Instagram, Boston Public Library
http://instagram.com/bplboston# They had pictures of children, I think in story time and teens on computers. I also found on the Denver Public Library site something called flickr, it showed pics of a person showing people how to play the guitar. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dplteens I don't know if this is the same as Instagram.
As I stated above, I don't think I searched the other library sites the right way. I went to Phoenis, LA and Chicago Public library sites and could not find anything about instagram.

I love this bubble song and using bubbles for story time. Such an easy idea; we had lots of younger kids in our story time this year, they love bubbles!
I thought the OverDrive video that Pam from Lake Preston found was a very good one. Easy to understand.

Week two, homework
http://www.flickr.com/photos/41514259@N00/4991510308/
I really like this Holiday bulletin board, just a hint of Santa, but you have to use your imagination for the rest.

These lanterns are so cool and made out of books! They could be spray painted for different seasons or holidays.
I liked the board that Edie found about using the end caps to promote different topics.

1st week-Homework
I looked at some large library Facebook pages and also smaller ones.
All of them were very good at listing their events, info on library programs and info on hours etc.
Sioux City, IA had a great post on their mystery book club and the teen top ten books.
Des Moines had different postings on fall foods and cooking classes.
Davenport, IA had pics of the three branch libraries. Good for people like me who are not great with street signs!
I really likes the pic of the kids on top of Lead's page and the Custer library looked really clean and organized.
I finished with my homework by commented to two libraries.

About me!
Can't wait to learn about Facebook! I know, I'm the last person on earth who doesn't have a Facebook page but at the North Sioux City Community Library we have a wonderful Facebook page that Erin does every week. I have found as the library director to hire great young people and let them handle the tech stuff!
Have a great day everyone!
